When it comes to blogging platforms WordPress is really the king after Google’s blogger.com. WordPress has really change the web and now you come face to face with thousands of WordPress blogs everyday. WordPress is more SEO friendly, easy to handle, it has more professional themes and the biggest advantage of WordPress blog is that you can sell it to others and can earn lots of money. But let me tell you one thing that its the ultimate blogging platform yet and there are lots of complains about WordPress account hacks and some security issues, so you have to be really careful when dealing with WordPress blog specially heavy traffic blogs.
Have you ever seen error like this on your WordPress blog main dashboard.
Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 26214400) (tried to allocate 3789552 bytes) in /home/internet/public_html/blog/wp-includes/class-feed.php on line 4
Recently my blog starting to display the above mention fatal error in my blogs dashboard and in beginning i neglect this error but after few days i realize that its a constant error message and some thing is really going wrong in my blog. When i research for this error message on Google i came to know that this error message appears when a script in your blog requires more memory space than you have allotted for. By default all web-hosting companies have some sort of memory space for execution of PHP script. So if you get this error message you have to either remove that script which is causing the problem or increase the memory space so that the script can be executed and causes no problems for your blog.
The Solution:
First of all try to locate the script which is causing the problem and taking that much of memory space. Most of the times its the free plugin which causing the fatal error in WordPress blogs so try deactivating all your free WordPress plugins and check if this solves your problem. In my case it was the most famous WordPress SEO plugin by Yoast which casing the fatal error to be appeared in my blog. I simply deactivate this plugin and my WordPress blog was more than happy. But in your case it might be some other free WordPress plugin which is causing the problem.
Another solution is to allocate more memory space for scripts so that they can be fully executed but obviously doing so will slow down your site as your scripts take more time to execute. But if you have no option left than its the last option for you.
First of all locate the php.ini file in the folder where WordPress is install in your root directory. Now a days there is a special link to this file in Cpanel so that you can easily edit this file. Now open the file by clicking on the Edit link in Cpanel or right click on it and open in Notepad if you are editing it via browser. Now search for memory_limit and change its value from the default to the higher number lets say 128M. Save the file and now you have increase the memory allocated to the scripts in your blog.
