Prince Alwaleed & Mayor of Accra Inaugurate Street in Ghana Named After Prince Alwaleed

HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, Chairman of Kingdom Holding Company (KHC) visited Accra, Ghana on Wednesday July 3rd 2013. Prince Alwaleed was accompanied by a delegation that included Mr. Shadi Sanbar, KHC’s CFO and Executive Director, Ms. Heba Fatani, Senior Executive Manager, Corporate Communications Department, Dr. Nahla Nasser Alanbar, Private Executive Assistant to HRH the Chairman, Ms. Hassna Alturki, Department Head, Travel and External Affairs, Mr. Naief Alzuhair, Manager Website & Social Media, Corporate Communications Department, Mr. Mohammed Alfaraj, Assistant Manager, for Travel and External Affairs, Mr. Fahad Bin Saad Bin Nafel, Executive Assistant to HRH the Chairman and Mr. Hassan Mukhtar , Advisor to HRH the Chairman.



During the trip, Prince Alwaleed met with HE Mr. John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana at the presidential palace. The President and Prince Alwaleed discussed general economic and social issues in addition to focusing on humanitarian topic of discussions. Furthermore, the President commended Prince Alwaleed on his global investments and Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation on their efforts and support to Ghana



Also during the visit, Dr. Alfred Oko Vanderpuiye, Mayor of Accra and Chief Executive Officer of Accra Metropolitan Assembly and Prince Alwaleed inaugurated a very major Street in Ghana “Nima Highway” that has been named after HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal in recognition of HRH’s commitment to humanitarian and welfare services to the people of Ghana and promoting development. The inauguration was attended by Dr. Mustapha Ahmed, Minister of State in Charge of Development Authorities at the Office of the President and Members of Parliament of North Ayawaso, Mr. Naiza Mahama Toure, Member of Parliament for East Ayawaso and HE Mr. Hisham Mishal Al-Suwailem, Saudi Arabian Ambassador to the Republic of Ghana.

In 2011, Prince Alwaleed Chairman of Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation – Global (Registered in Lebanon) was warmly received by HE John Atta-Mills, the Former President of the Republic of Ghana at the Castle Osu. His Highness was accompanied by a delegation from KHC, Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundations and the Private office. Moreover, during the trip, HRH was awarded the Key to the City of Accra by Dr. Alfred Oko Vanderpuiye, the Mayor of the City of Accra at the Greater Accra Metropolitan Accra Assembly. Furthermore, Prince Alwaleed toured and inspected his investments through KHC in Ghana and inspected his humanitarian projects through Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation.

Also in 2011, Prince Alwaleed in the presence of HE Mr. John Dramani Mahama, Vice President of the Republic of Ghana at the time, inaugurated the $120 million Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra. The event was attended by Mr. Sarmad Zok, Chairman and CEO of Kingdom Hotel Investments (KHI) wholly owned by KHC. The hotel is considered a national and historic landmark and features 61 Executive Club rooms with their exclusive dedicated 24-hour club lounge, 15 junior suites and a palatial 350 square meter presidential suite, all overlooking the pool and gardens. KHC owns a 33.3% stake in Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts that manages the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel.

Furthermore, Alwaleed Foundation had donated $600,000 Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research towards a Prince Alwaleed Clinical Research Facility for AIDS, malaria, and malnutrition in Ghana. In 2007, Alwaleed Foundation donated $250,000 to the Natural Disaster Relief Fund to provide relief from the destruction caused by the floods. In addition, Alwaleed Foundation had supported Ghana on a number of humanitarian projects in 2003that include: a donation of $100,000 to support the Fund for Early Child Center and $100,000 to support the Ghana Otumfuos Education Fund and $300,000 towards the establishment of Alwaleed School. Prince Alwaleed had also sponsored the pilgrimage of 150 Ghanaian citizens which was estimated to cost over SR1 Million.

In 2006, His Highness was awarded the highest honorary medal in the country, “Companion of the Order of the Volta” during an official ceremony of investiture attended by prominent state dignitaries. In addition, in 2004 HRH was conferred the Honorary Doctorate from the University for Development Studies (UDS) in Tamale, Ghana for His Highness’s global investments and humanitarian efforts. Also in 2003 the Prince was awarded, by the King of Ashanti tribe with the diploma, with the rank of “Citizen of Honor of the Kingdom of Ashanti”.

 Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, Président de la Kingdom Holding Company (KHC), s'est rendu au Qatar le jeudi 27 Juin 2013, à féliciter Son Altesse Cheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani sur la décision de transférer le pouvoir de nouvelle génération et a également félicité SA Cheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, émir du Qatar, à l'occasion de sa prise des rênes du pouvoir au Qatar.

Lors de la visite, le Prince Alwaleed et Cheikh Tamim ont discuté de la chaleureuse amitié entre leurs deux pays, le Royaume d'Arabie saoudite et le Qatar, et renvoyé à un certain nombre de questions importantes. La réunion a abordé les derniers développements dans les pays du CCG et dans le monde. En plus des investissements du Prince Alwaleed en alliance avec Qatar à travers KHC. 

En 2012, le Prince Alwaleed a rencontré SE le Cheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Al Thani, Premier ministre et ministre des Affaires étrangères du Qatar. La réunion conjointe a eu lieu à l'ambassade du Qatar à Paris. Son Altesse Royale a été reçue à l'ambassade du Qatar par M. Sultan Alsulaity, adjoint particulier du PM HE Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassem et touche personnel de l'ambassade, au cours de la réunion, 

En mai 2012, le Prince Alwaleed a rencontré l'ambassadeur du Qatar à l'Arabie saoudite et a reçu une lettre de SE Cheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Al Thani, le Prince Alwaleed a demandé à l'ambassadeur de transmettre ses salutations cordiales et transmettre une lettre à SE le Cheikh Hamad. 

En 2011, le Prince Alwaleed a visité le Qatar et a rencontré Cheikh Hamad. Pendant la visite, le Prince Alwaleed a assisté à la cérémonie d'ouverture de la deuxième édition de "Fédération des hommes d'affaires et l'Union des jeunes entrepreneurs" conférence qui s'est tenue au Sheraton Doha. L'événement a été suivi par SE Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassem, SE Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid bin Sultan Al Qasimi, ministre du Commerce extérieur (EAU), SE Sheikh Khalifa Bin Jassim Bin Mohammed Bin Qassim Althani, Président de Qatar Chambre de Commerce, des représentants du gouvernement, dignitaires et des médias. 

En outre, SE le Cheikh Hamad a organisé un déjeuner privé en l'honneur de SAR le Prince Alwaleed. Par ailleurs les deux ont discuté de l'amitié de longue date entre l'Arabie saoudite et le Qatar, et les investissements de Prince Alwaleed avec le Qatar à travers KHC. 

Pendant le voyage en 2011, le Prince Alwaleed a assisté à la e Charity Dinner 4 de Gala "Reach Out to Asia" (ROTA) avec Son Altesse Cheikha Moza Bint Nasser Al Missned, Présidente de la Fondation du Qatar, au nom de Son Altesse Cheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani. L'occasion a été également assisté par Son Altesse Sheikha Al-Mayassa Bint Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Président de "Reach Out To Asia" ROTA, SE le Président Heinz Fischer, Président de l'Autriche et de la Première Dame Mme Margit Fischer. En outre, Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation-Global (enregistrés au Liban) qui est présidé par le Prince Alwaleed a donné SR7 millions au cours de l'occasion pour leurs activités de base pour la construction d'écoles dans les zones rurales et pauvres en Asie. 

En Juin 2010, Son Altesse Royale a rencontré M. Ahmad Al-Sayed, PDG de Qatar Holding avec une délégation qui l'accompagne. Au cours de la réunion, les deux parlé de son implantation régionale solide de Son Altesse dans les différents secteurs, dont l'immobilier, l'hôtellerie et les médias, au niveau local, régional et international. 

En 2010, KHC a annoncé une transaction US $ 847 millions avec Qatari Diar impliquant Fairmont Raffles Holdings International (FRHI). En vertu des accords, Voyager a acquis pour une combinaison d'espèces et autres avantages d'une participation de 40% dans FRHI. En outre, QDHP s'est engagée à fournir FRHI avec un certain nombre de contrats de gestion à venir pour les hôtels qui seront vendus sous la marque soit Fairmont, le Raffles et Swissotel. En 2006, KHC et Colony a finalisé l'acquisition de Fairmont Hotels and Resorts qui a été combiné avec le Raffles Hotels Group .. 

En outre, les investissements de Son Altesse hôtels à travers Kingdom Holding comprennent la gestion de l'hôtel Four Seasons de Doha, le Mövenpick Doha et Tower Doha Movenpick et suites, et dans le secteur financier par Citigroup. En outre, le Raffles gère l'hôtel Le Royal Monceau à Paris, qui est détenue par Qatar. 

En Avril 2010, le SAR a assisté à la «Perspectives FGCCC, menant les 30 prochaines années" Dîner de Gala avec Son Altesse Cheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, SE le Président Michel Sleiman du Liban et SA Cheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabr Al-Thani Premier ministre et du Qatar ministre des Affaires étrangères mardi Avril 6th 2010 à Doha, au Qatar. L'événement a été organisé sous le patronage de l'émir du Qatar. 

En 2009, le Prince Alwaleed a assisté à la 3 e Charity Dinner de Gala "Reach Out to Asia" (ROTA) avec Son Altesse Cheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Cheikha Moza et Bint Nasser Al Missned. 

En 2005, le Prince Alwaleed a fait une contribution à travers Alwaleed Bin Talal Fondation mondiale (enregistrés au Liban) au cours de la cérémonie de dîner de charité organisé à Doha pour aider les régions touchées en Asie dans le cadre de l'Initiative Helping Hands pour l'Asie.
