To Be or Not To Be: Gary Ross Officially Bows Out of ‘Hunger Games’ Sequel

To Be or Not To Be: Gary Ross Officially Bows Out of ‘Hunger Games’ Sequel:
Lionsgate

.

First there was a report that Gary Ross wasn’t going to direct a “Hunger Games” sequel because of money. Then it wasn’t because of money. Then he was doing the sequel. Now, this time officially, he’s not doing the sequel.

Ross and Lionsgate issued statements today regarding his involvement in a sequel to the runaway hit, “The Hunger Games.” For Ross’ part, he stated:

.

“As a writer and a director, I simply don’t have the time I need to write and prep the movie I would have wanted to make because of the fixed and tight production schedule.”

.

Lionsgate also had a few words to say in response to the announcement by Ross:

.

“We were really looking forward to making the movie with him. He did an incredible job on the first film and we are grateful for his work.”

.

Sounds like they left the door open for Ross to return and work for them in the future. As far as “The Hunger Games” franchise goes, I don’t think it will be that big of a deal that Ross isn’t on board for further movies. What do you think?
