Anchorman 2 gets the green light

Anchorman 2 gets the green light:

It's the news we've been waiting to bring you for a good few years now, and finally it's happening: Paramount has agreed terms with Will Ferrell and Adam McKay to give the green light to Anchorman 2!

The news was confirmed by Ferrell himself, who appeared in character as Ron Burgundy on Conan O'Brien's talk show, and revealed that a deal had been struck with the studio. He also took the time to lay into the host with a string of well-aimed insults.

You can take a look at Burgundy's big announcement below…

Reportedly, McKay had initially pitched the sequel as an all-out musical, only for Paramount to turn the idea down. Whether or not that musical element has been revived remains to be seen, but the good news is that several of the original cast are set to return.

Steve Carell and Paul Rudd are the first to officially confirm, with David Koechner, Christina Applegate and Fred Willard also expected to sign on the dotted line. Judd Apatow is also on board to produce.

No release date has been revealed as yet, but in the meantime, we're just going to bask in the knowledge that this is happening at all. Dust off those leather-bound books and throw on some jazz flute… Ron Burgundy is back!
